Formula E team Cupra Kiro has issued a call to Max Verstappen following his scathing criticism of the 2026 F1 regulations. Verstappen invited to join Formula E
The four-time world champion has been making headlines in recent days after openly sharing his views on the new regulations and cars, famously describing them as
“Formula E on steroids”.“I want to be realistic as a driver — the feeling is not very F1-like. It feels more like Formula E on steroids. The rules are the same for everyone, so you have to deal with that, and that’s also not my problem, because I’m all for that — equal chances, I don’t mind that. But as a pure driver, I enjoy driving flat out, and at the moment you cannot drive like that.”
His comments quickly went viral, with the Dutchman emerging as the most outspoken critic among the drivers, laying bare his frustration with the new generation of cars that only made their debut a few weeks ago.
Cupra Kiro, currently third from last in the Formula E standings, seized the moment on social media by sharing a tongue-in-cheek post, tagging the four-time world champion and writing: “We are waiting for your call”.

Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds has also responded to Max Verstappen’s criticism of the current generation of cars.
With
Formula 1 teams running pre-season testing in Bahrain while the Jeddah E-Prix was taking place in Saudi Arabia, Dodds jokingly suggested that Verstappen might fancy a switch instead.
Dodds quipped that while Verstappen was in Bahrain, he was in Jeddah — and if the Dutchman felt like heading there instead, he would happily come and pick him up, admitting he was deliberately a bit 'naughty' with the message.
