Lucas Di Grassi won the penultimate race of the Formula E season in Berlin. The Italian finished ahead of Edoardo Mortara and Mitch Evans, who joined him on the podium. Title contender Sam Bird dropped out early on, but Jake Dennis did score a lot of points. He caught up in the battle for the championship with Nyck De Vries and Robin Frijns, who finished outside the top ten and thus see the Briton get 10 points closer.
Bird, the fourth title contender, was hit at the start and consequently made a half turn on the track. Initially he recovered, but then the Brit had to stop his race. This meant the end of his title dream. Nyck de Vries suffered from a flat tire and therefore had to enter the pits, while Frijns did not have a fantastic race either. Frijns finished fifteenth, while de Vries had to make do with P22.
Up front, Vergne looked set to claim victory for a long time, but towards the last twenty minutes he and his teammate Da Costa collapsed. They were overtaken by everyone and everything. In the end, De Grassi would win the race, ahead of Mortara and Evans.

Championship not yet decided

The championship was thus not decided in this race already. Jake Dennis finished in a respectable fifth place and thus remained well ahead of the two Dutchmen. Therefore, the battle for the title, which is now even more exciting, will be decided during the last race of the season on Sunday. De Vries has 95 points, Mortara 93 points thanks to his second place, Dennis 91 points thanks to his fifth place today and Frijns 89.
