The official Formula 1 game may be released next year under a different name. Codemasters has received a takeover bid from the American developer Take-Two Interactive Software.
Codemasters has had the rights over Formula 1 since 2008 and has been releasing the official Formula 1 game for years. It is one of the oldest game developers, but like many other companies it has to contend with the effects of the coronavirus. A takeover bid of EUR 815 million then suddenly becomes interesting.

New owner of the Formula 1 game

Codemasters is said to be open to Take-Two's bid, which already has several major brands such as 2K and Rockstar Games. Under the umbrella of 2K, the highly acclaimed NBA game is released annually and Rockstar Games includes hit titles such as Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption.
According to Motorsport.com, the shares of Codemasters rose by 8.6 percent at the time this news was announced, but the shares of Take-Two have also risen again. In addition to the Formula 1 game, Codemasters also makes the games Dirt, WRC and Grid.
