In one of the most bizarre instances of the season, FP1 in Baku was cut short after a loose drain cover was sucked up into George Russell’s Williams, ending his and everyone else’s session.
The FIA have now released a reason for the vent, saying that a "break on an underside mounting" led to the drain coming loose.
Russell’s car was heavily damaged, and he was unable to take part in FP2, whilst all 360 drain covers around the circuit had to be checked to make sure the problem was not also on other drain covers.
Since the end of the second session, the drain covers have been re-checked for any other issues.
