Where it was already expected that the Grand Prix at Zandvoort is at risk of becoming a second Monaco, the FIA has recently made overtaking at this circuit even more difficult. The second and last DRS zone of the track in the dunes has been shortened due to safety concerns.
This weekend the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort will be driven with two DRS zones. The last one was supposed to start going into the famous Arie Luyendyk turn, but the FIA has recently taken this plan off the table, as reported by the Dutch Telegraaf.
Although the corner can easily be taken at full throttle, the regulatory body of Formula 1 does not dare to allow DRS in the corner itself. On the straight after the corner, it is still allowed, as well as on the straight towards turn eleven.

Research project

After the spectacle at Zandvoort this weekend, the FIA will carry out further research to determine whether DRS will be allowed in the Arie Luyendyk corner in the future.
