Ferrari under pressure in 2022: 'Then everything has been for nothing'

For the top teams, 2022 will be a special challenge. For the first time, they can't spend buckets of money to be immediately competitive. So Ferrari too must have interpreted the rules correctly.
In 2021, the budget cap was already introduced in Formula 1 and when creating the car for 2022 and further developing the 2021 car, choices had to be made. In the past, the top teams pumped all their money into both projects, but now wise choices have to be made.

Pressure on Ferrari

It will be no different in 2022, and that could have major consequences. Laurent Mekies, Racing Director of Ferrari, states, according to Speedweek.com, that this will be a big challenge for Ferrari. They have to get it right from the start because otherwise they will have to shift budgets during the year.
Over a whole year, a certain budget is available per department. That budget is made available over different periods. If it turns out that Ferrari is not competitive at the start, however, that planning can already be shaken up again. ''Then all that preparation has been for nothing,'' Mekies concluded.
