Fernando Alonso was forced to sit inside the McLaren garage for the duration on Thursday practice as the car needed some "extra TLC" following Alonso's huge crash. When they finally prepared the car, rain hit the track and ended running for all.
Alonso has recorded just 96 laps in practice, but the Spaniard does have another day in hand before qualifying begins. Zak Brown was on hand to discuss why McLaren struggled to run.
"It's definitely slow going. We had to borrow pieces from one car and move them to the other car, bring in bits from an outside location, change the engine," Brown said in an interview on PlanetF1.

"We're just trying to get it done right, put some extra TLC in it and make sure it is ready to go. The speed in the car (Wednesday) seemed to be OK, Fernando will get right up to speed, he's not fazed, so I think we are just trying to put together a car that is ready to go and ready to perform."
The Indy500 takes place in just over a weeks time. Alonso is in search of the final jigsaw piece that will give him motorsport's triple crown!
