As always, let’s take a look at today’s two main headlines, Friday, August 29, which also marked the first day back on track at Zandvoort following the summer break.

Max Verstappen out of action post-FP1 in bizarre incident

Following FP1 for the Dutch Grand Prix, Max Verstappen suffered a bizarre incident that saw him having to leave his Red Bull car parked outside of Turn 1.
As the session dominated by both McLarens saw Verstappen finish in P6, the Dutchman lined up on the grid to perform a practice start.
Everything was going business as usual, until Turn 1. In what could only be described as a bizarre happening, the Dutchman shot straight through the Tarzan corner, skimmed over the gravel and nearly parked his car in the wall.

Reaching out on the radio back to the Austrian team's pitwall to report "I'm stuck," Verstappen had no choice but to extricate himself from his RB21 and leave the stricken car where it stood.
Verstappen then fiddled with an area of the floor at the rear of the RB21 before walking away from the scene of the incident.

Alonso reacts to rumoured ex partner Taylor Swift's engagement

In 2023, there were rumours about the two-time world champion and Swift dating, although never confirmed.

The previous year, her song titled "imgonnagetyouback" also has the lyrics: "I'm an Aston Martin that you steered straight into the ditch then ran and hid."
Swift will marry Travis Kelce, who plays as a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, and is also an investor in the Alpine F1team.
On Sky Sports, the drivers were asked about news leading up to the Dutch Grand Prix weekend. Alonso therefore also reacted to the engagement. With a big smile, the Spaniard commented: "Good, congratulations I guess?"
