F1 Today | Norris on pole position, Verstappen reveals damning verdict

It was the Briton’s day at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, as Norris took his fifth pole position of the 2025 season.

After the session, he commented: "I'm happy to be back on pole. It's actually been quite a long time, so it's a good feeling. The lap was one of those where you don't really know what happened. It felt decent but when I saw the time I was very pleasantly surprised."

Norris also expects a tough battle heading into Turn 1 on Sunday. He won’t be surrounded by his title rivals on the grid, with Ferrari duo Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton lining up second and third

The seven-time world champion was pleased to return to the top three, admitting: "It's been a long time since I've been up here."

Max Verstappen finished fifth in qualifying. The Dutchman had a damning prediction after the session.

He explained: "I have no pace so it doesn’t matter what I do in Turn 1, even if I jump two cars, they will get me in the race."

Championship leader Oscar Piastri also had a difficult day. The Australian named his biggest concern, saying: "Being that far off when you feel like you've done a reasonable job is a difficult place to be."
