Formula one teams are talking about moving testing to Bahrain for the 2019 pre-season event. This year, testing took place in Barcelona where conditions were seriously cold limiting running and accurate results. Liberty media have suggested they will pay part of the logistic costs.
Bahrain has been used for winter testing over the last decade. Between 2006-09 and in 2014, the track was utilised before the season began. However, it wasn’t used as the only circuit in testing.
If Liberty Media do decide to support the payments, the only downside would be the speed at which teams can transport new parts.
Testing dates have already been announced. The first test will start on the 18th February and run until the 21st of February, while the second test will take place after a four-day break. Next season will feature just one in-season test.
