Sergio Perez has praised
F1 rookie
Franco Colapinto after the Red Bull driver struggled to overtake at the
Singapore Grand Prix. The
Williams driver has only competed in a few Grands Prix but is leaving everyone impressed, including his fellow drivers.
Perez on Colapinto
Perez reported on the team radio that it was difficult to pass Colapinto, but after the race he expanded on that. Partly due to the Argentinian's defence, Perez did not get beyond P10 during the Singapore race. This allowed
McLaren, with
Oscar Piastri and
Lando Norris, to move further ahead of Red Bull in the Constructors' Championship.
"Yes, he did a fantastic race," Perez admitted after the race at the
Marina Bay Street Circuit.
"He didn't put a foot wrong. It was just very difficult to keep up with him at the time. It was just a difficult race. In the end we managed to do the undercut on him but that was the only one we could do," the Mexican said.
