Guenther Steiner wins lawsuit against former employer Haas

Guenther Steiner has won a lawsuit against his former employer, Haas F1. The American team filed against their former team principal, because of alleged copyright infringement in his book. However, the court decided against the constructor.

Guenther Steiner served as team principal for Haas' Formula 1 team since they joined the competition, however, they parted ways after the 2023 season. Meanwhile, Steiner released his book called 'Survive to Drive'.

Haas Automation, the parent company of Haas F1, filed a lawsuit against the Italian because of the aforementioned book, because they believed Steiner used Haas trademaks and trade image for his own financial gain.

The US judge, Andre Birotte, argued that this was not the case. The photographs used in the book belong to sports biographies and, in his opinion, the images chosen are artistically relevant. The judge also stated that the book contains no misleading statements about Haas or any of the sponsors.

On the other hand, Steiner will have to pay all legal fees himself, as demanding Haas to do so was not successful, as the judge decided against that.
