Max Verstappen took advantage of a strategy slip-up from McLaren as he won the Qatar Grand Prix ahead of Oscar Piastri and Carlos Sainz, while Lando Norris could only finish fourth.
After a safety car was brought out due to Nico Hulkenberg and Pierre Gasly colliding, everyone but Piastri, Norris, and Esteban Ocon came in to serve one of their two mandatory pit stops.
As a result, McLaren were thrown onto the back foot and had to claw back a 26-second gap over Verstappen, which neither driver could do.
Verstappen raced away to victory while Piastri could only come second, meaning the Dutchman goes ahead of the Australian before the season finale at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Carlos Sainz rounded off the podium with an impressive drive, while some great defensive work from Kimi Antonelli was undone after he went wide on the penultimate lap, seeing him finish P5, while Norris gained two more vital points with a P4 finish on his first attempt to seal his maiden world title.

Behind the top five, George Russell had a tough afternoon in P6, while Fernando Alonso finished P7.
Charles Leclerc, Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda rounded out the top ten.
