Emerson Fittipaldi believes that Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz succumbed to the great pressure in Imola and tried too hard. According to the Brazilian, however, that is not surprising with the pressure from the Tifosi.
Before the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, Ferrari was the big favourite and at home, of course, Ferrari hoped to provide a big celebration for the Tifosi. However, the weekend ended in total fiasco. Leclerc spun from third place to an eventual sixth place and Sainz was already out of the race due to contact with Daniel Ricciardo.

Pressure on Ferrari

''I can imagine that Ferrari was under enormous pressure. That was impressive. Everyone was assuming they would win, which creates even more pressure. Not only racing in Italy but also that everyone expects you to win creates extra pressure,'' says Fittipaldi at VegasInsider.
Under that pressure, then, the drivers went wrong, according to Fittipaldi. ''I think Carlos and Leclerc were trying too hard.'' According to the two-time world champion, however, it is not crazy for a Ferrari driver to make a mistake under that pressure in Italy.
