Bernie Ecclestone, the former Formula 1 boss, thinks Christian Horner should replace Stefano Domenicali, current CEO, as Formula 1 boss in the long term. Ecclestone is not a fan of Domenicali's work and names Horner as a potential replacement.
In an interview with The Telegraph the Brit is critical of the current Formula 1 boss. '“Stefano has never been any closer to things beyond the fact that he once worked for Ferrari. Apart from that, he didn’t know what happened behind the scenes.' Ecclestone also feels that Domenicali is not moving Formula 1 forward. Of course, these are fairly controversial statements when you consider Formula 1's success in recent years.

Horner as successor

The Brit already has his ideas about the current CEO's replacement, though. Christian Horner, Red Bull Racing's current team boss, is a suitable candidate according to Ecclestone. 'If you had to pick anyone today, I’d say Horner would be as good as there is. He listens well. He sorts out what’s rubbish from what isn’t', Ecclestone speaks highly of the team boss.
However, Horner has already said that after his career as team boss, he wants to do something completely different from working in Formula 1. 'When I get to the end of my journey, I’ll go away and do something completely different. I’ll be a sheep farmer or something like that.' Horner has been with the team since Red Bull's debut year, 2005, with highlights including six drivers' championships and five constructors' championships. This year, the Austrian formation looks to be competitive once again.
