The first Dutch Grand Prix in 36 years was a great success. Not only the Dutch spectators cheered for Max Verstappen who took the victory, also the created circuit could count on a lot of praise.
Beforehand, it was clear that qualifying was one of the most important parts of the race weekend. Since overtaking is not easy on the Zandvoort circuit, it was simply crucial for the drivers to get a good starting position.

Dutch GP is a big success

Verstappen succeeded in doing so by setting the fastest time in Q3, keeping Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas behind him. The duo tried to outwit Verstappen in the race with a clever strategy, but it wasn't enough to keep the Dutchman from victory.
"There was nothing really to detract from the Dutch fairytale," Mark Hughes wrote at The Race. "A perfect day. Even Hamilton didn’t seem too upset. Verstappen retook the lead of the championship with this sweet victory. It won’t always be like this but it was just the orange icing on the cake of an incredible sporting day. The techno beat finally stopped and the crowd dispersed happy, satiated."
