Christian Horner has underlined that top advisor Helmut Marko is not leaving Red Bull Racing, and will remain with the squad for the foreseeable future. Speaking to Motorsport.com, the team principal also commented on what that means in terms of keeping four-time Max Verstappen.

Horner downplays the 'Marko situation'

In Abu Dhabi, the team principal was asked about top advisor Marko. Earlier this season, rumours suggested that the Austrian would leave. Back then Verstappen stood up for Marko, explaining he an important figure, and that would 'complicate' the situation of him staying at the team.
"Well, Helmut hasn’t left and isn’t leaving, so I think that Max is… he recognises the value of team and that's really, again, what he's nurtured during this period," the Briton said during the final race of the Formula 1 season, downplaying the earlier conflict in Jeddah.
"The thing is, as soon as you step across that red line into the garage, you leave behind all the noise from the paddock. And as soon as you went across that red line everything is business as normal. My role remains unchanged. In that there’s an awful lot… I wear many hats with [being] trackside, I'm the team principal of a high-performing sports team and from Monday to Friday, I'm the CEO of three technology businesses on chassis, engine and advanced technology," the Briton concluded.
