Leclerc speaks about his FP2 incident: 'I lost the car after this'

Ferrari had a day of mixed fortunes on Friday in Budapest. The rejuvenated SF-24 looked fast in the hands of both drivers. Carlos Sainz led the way in FP1 and finished third in FP2. His teammate Charles Leclerc finished in third in FP1, but spun at turn 4, crashing out of FP2. Both drivers have summarised their first day at the iconic Hungaroring on the outskirts of the Hungarian capital.
Mixed fortunes for Ferrari
"The car feels pretty good so far and we had a more consistent day compared to the past few weekends. I ran a bit wide in turn 4 and lost the car on the kerb, which thankfully did not cause too much damage, but enough for my session to be over. We will focus on recovering the mileage we missed out on in FP3 tomorrow." Leclerc said in Ferrari's press release.
His teammate, Carlos Sainz, topped FP1 earlier in the day. The Spaniard finished in third place in FP2 in what was a positive start to the three-time Grand Prix winner's Hungarian Grand Prix weekend.
"Overall, we had a positive day, which is always important here because this is a very tricky track to set up the car. Additionally, due to the high temperatures, it was important to see how all three compounds reacted to the extreme heat on track. We gathered some useful information, and it looks like we are in better shape this weekend. However, it’s only Friday, so let’s see tomorrow." The Spaniard said. Sainz has yet to announce where he will be driving in 2025. After today's results, it's clear Sainz is focusing first and foremost on his race weekend.
