Charles Leclerc topped the first session of the season at the Australian Grand Prix.

The Ferrari driver set the fastest time with a 1:20.2, finishing ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen during the first session of the day.

The two Mercedes drivers, George Russell and Kimi Antonelli, finished in seventh and eighth place, behind Oscar Piastri. Lando Norris had gearbox issues, GPblog could report.

Multiple teams, including Aston Martin, McLaren, Williams and Racing Bulls encountered issues during the first 60 minutes of Friday. Fernando Alonso was unable to complete any laps at all, while Lance Stroll did three in total.
