Aston Martin has detected an issue on Fernando Alonso’s AMR26 that will prevent him from taking part in FP1.

This is what the Silverstone-based team confirmed, with the two-time world champion’s season getting off to an uphill start before he has even turned a wheel.
Aston Martin had already logged the fewest laps of anyone during testing, repeatedly hampered by technical issues that severely limited their track running.
Then yesterday Adrian Newey dropped a media bombshell, revealing that heavy vibrations coming from the chassis were preventing the drivers from completing longer runs, even warning that it could potentially cause permanent nerve damage to their hands.
Aston Martin also confirmed that Lance Stroll’s session ended early due to a suspected power unit issue.
