Audi welcome British sensation as first signing of its development programme

Audi have named British sensation Freddie Slater as the first signing of their driver development programme.

The 17-year-old Briton comes off a dominant Formula Regional European Championship title, following a double triumph in Italian F4 and the UAE series the year before.

Slater — who shares the same management as Lando Norris — is set to compete in Formula 3 with Trident next season and will therefore join the ranks of the German outfit’s newly launched driver development programme, led by Allan McNish.

“It’s an incredible honour to be the first driver selected for the Audi Driver Development Programme. Audi is a brand with a legendary motorsport history, and to have their trust and support at this crucial stage of my career is a dream come true," he commented on the news.

“Joining forces with a respected team like Trident Motorsport for Formula 3 and having the backing of Audi Revolut F1 Team is a massive opportunity. I am fully focused on working hard and making the most of this pivotal step towards my goal of reaching Formula One."
