Aston Martin holds back: 'No one has all the answers'

On Thursday afternoon the new Aston Martin was presented to the public. With the AMR22 the team of Lawrence Stroll wants to make a big step forward next season. Whether the team can now regularly get involved in the battle for podiums, however, remains to be seen.

Green is keeping a wary eye on the situation

Last season, high expectations were not really met by the team of Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll. While in 2020 - as Racing Point - several podiums, a victory and a pole position were scored, in 2021 there was only one podium. The team eventually finished seventh in the championship.
Technical director Andy Green is afraid to make any predictions for this year. "No one has all the answers to maximising the new regulations, so it is all about avoiding development cul-de-sacs, and that was the key message to our design team. It is a huge challenge, but everyone has risen to the task," F1 journalist quote Adam Cooper.

Strong evolution of the Aston Martin

The car presented Thursday is just the first version of the AMR22, Green revealed. "The AMR22 we see is our ‘first’ iteration under these new regulations. It will evolve dramatically over the coming months as we run the cars for real and begin to understand the challenges involved. That will, in turn, forge the direction for 2023 and beyond.”
