Antonio Giovinazzi has been handed a three-place grid penalty for impeding
Lance Stroll during the opening session of qualifying for the
Hungarian Grand Prix.
Stroll was knocked out during Q1 qualifying 19th for the race at the
Hungaroring. Giovinazzi went on to make it through to Q2 but succumbed at that stage and was set to line up 14th on the grid.
However, Giovinazzi has been handed a three-place penalty meaning he will drop to 17th, with
Kevin Magnussen,
George Russell and
Sergio Perez benefitting from the penalty to the Italian. However, it will mean little to Stroll who's qualifying woes were given a reprieve in Germany but he will remain 19th.
Alfa Romeo told Giovinazzi that Stroll was on a slow lap when he was actually on a flying lap causing the confusion that occurred at turn five.
