Alpine presents A522: This is what the team changes from old car

Alpine were one of the last teams to present its new car for 2022 when they laucnhed the A522 on Monday night. With the A522, the French racing team hopes to make a big step forward this season. Compared to the 2021 car there are some big changes to be seen.

While most teams usually opt for the same colour composition, it is a different story with Alpine. Last year Esteban Ocon and Fernando Alonso drove around with a car that was blue with red accents. This season, the red colour has made way for pink. Moreover, the team will drive entirely in that colour during the first two races.

Apart from the colour composition, there are several changes to discover, which is above all due to the new regulations in Formula 1. For example, the A522 features a high nose compared to the front wing. In addition, the air intakes at the side pods are small, a change that we see in several teams.

The French formation has often expressed the goal of competing with the top teams in the future. With an improved version of the former A521 Alpine hopes to take a step in the right direction. In the coming months it should become clear whether this is sufficient.
