Fernando Alonso believes there will be no upset in the streets of Monaco on Sunday. Instead, the Spaniard insists one of the top three teams will dominate the rest of the field.
Despite the track hampering some of the advantages, the big three have, Alonso, insists his McLaren team and Renault won’t be near the podium.
“Obviously it’s a different and very unique layout and weekend,” said Alonso to Autosport. “But at the same time, there are not many surprises here.
“It’s never a place that we had a midfield team winning a race or a small team winning a race, or doing the pole position.
“There’s always a lot of expectations in Monaco, but then there’s a Red Bull, Mercedes or Ferrari in pole position - so I think it’s going to be similar this year.”

Qualifying is always the most important session in Monaco. Trying to predict his own performance in qualifying proved tricky for the two-time world champion.
“Around P5 to P10 should be our target, but it’s difficult to predict now.”
