Fernando Alonso has made a quicker return to a Formula 1 cockpit than many would have expected.
As part of some testing the retired Formula 1 driver was doing in Bahrain, Alonso had the opportunity to drive a 2013 McLaren-Mercedes Formula 1 car.
The two time world champion has officially retired from Formula 1 but still had to fufill one of his final commitments for McLaren this year by taking part in a promotional day with multiple NASCAR cup champion Jimmie Johnson. The day will see the drivers swap cars with Alonso driving Johnsons NASCAR Chevrolet.
Alonso originally was not meant to have a run in the F1 car but he requested to have a go.
This test could also mark the start of a new career for Alonso who is exploring different racing avenues to explore.
