Alfa Romeo was not the only team to offer Bottas a contract

Valtteri Bottas will take on a new challenge at Alfa Romeo Racing next year alongside Guanyu Zhou, but that is not the only team that has approached him. Just after he signed the contract, another Formula One team called the Finn.

Bottas made the switch to the Mercedes team in 2017, after spending three years at Williams. He ultimately failed to become world champion with the German team, but he did achieve his first pole position there and won his first Formula One race. The Finn is now moving to Alfa Romeo, as George Russell will take his place alongside Lewis Hamilton. He will replace Kimi Raikkonen at the Italian team and will take a seat next to the Chinese rookie.

Even though he has signed a contract with Alfa Romeo, his future could also have been with another team, as he received a call from another team two days after he signed his contract, the Portuguese branch of Motorsport.com reports. The team wanted the Finnish driver badly, since an offer was immediately thrown on the table, after which the former Mercedes driver joked that they were a bit late with their proposal. Despite knowing that a different proposal was on the table, he is satisfied with his choice and starts the new adventure with confidence.
