Alexander Albon suggested that confidential information from a closed meeting had been leaked. Max Verstappen came to the same conclusion.
On Friday evening, the Formula 1 drivers met with the FIA for their routine drivers’ briefing. Although the meeting was meant to remain confidential, it quickly became clear that details from the discussion had been leaked by someone present in the room.
After qualifying for the Australian Grand Prix, the Williams driver was asked by GPblog about the briefing and what had emerged from it. “We clearly have a leak in the group,” Albon said immediately.
“We're all in agreement. I think that we just want to simplify it a little bit for ourselves. I think there is a lot that we're doing around a lap. I'm sure you guys can dissect it and see what we're doing but at the moment it's not just about driving quickly, there's a lot of things that you can do which don't feel natural or against the spirit of racing cars.”

Albon hands out compliments to FIA

The Thai driver finally added: “The great thing about the FIA is that they're open minded. I think that the fact that they allow us to have these conversations with them, the fact that they're willing to hear us out on the many conversations and explaining the direction that they're going in and what they see about it. It’s clearly not a closed book.
“There's still scope to make some changes throughout the year. I think that's great. That's how it should be. So let's see."
After qualifying, Verstappen also expressed his frustration with the questions about the drivers’ briefing. The Red Bull driver insisted that what is discussed in that meeting should not be shared with others, describing it as unprofessional.
