George Russell has reflected immediately on his third placed qualifying finish in Jeddah for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
The Brit admitted that he is disappointed with the result, although before the session, he would've been happy with a P3. Russell spent a short period of time on provisional pole before Piastri and Verstappen went in front of him.
"Yeah, to be honest, before the session I would have definitely taken a P3, but when I just saw how close it was I was really happy with the lap, but you always think there might have been a little bit more in there," he began in the pitlane.

Russell: 'That was realistically the maximum'

The Mercedes driver continued, praising Verstappen for his pole performance. "Being realistic I think this was probably the maximum today. We know on these sort of higher speed circuits we probably don't quite have the pace of the McLarens and obviously Max did an amazing job again, so yeah, congrats to him."

The Brit also commented on Lando Norris' incident, which made his session more difficult. "It was a really tricky session with the red flag in the middle of the session and that one lap at the end was all that counted. It was quite interesting seeing the Red Bull doing the two laps. but as I said, P3 is a great place to start and it'll be a long race tomorrow," Russell concluded.
