Max Verstappen will try to pass Lewis Hamilton at the Qatar Grand Prix. With Sergio Perez starting in eleventh place, his teammate won't be able to help him. Pierre Gasly is willing to do something for Verstappen, although he doesn't think it will actually come to that.

The Frenchman showed all weekend that he has an excellent pace in Qatar. The AlphaTauri driver did well in free practice and continued his good form in qualifying. With a fourth fastest time in Q3, he was only able to beat Lewis Hamilton, Verstappen and Valtteri Bottas at the start.

As Gasly may be able to make things difficult for the Mercedes drivers if he gets a good start, he was asked by Sky Sports if he would be willing to help his former teammate Verstappen when he can. "I will try but the thing is I don't drive a Red Bull in the end," Gasly told. "I don't have the pace they have."

Tsunoda starts in Qatar in the top ten

Yuki Tsunoda also left a good impression in qualifying. The Japanese driver, who has struggled to perform consistently this season, set the eighth fastest time, putting him between Carlos Sainz and Esteban Ocon at the start.
