Max Verstappen set the fastest time during the second free practice session of the Mexican Grand Prix. Mercedes was the fastest team in the first practice session, but they couldn't keep it up in FP2.

Verstappen set a time of 1:17.301 and is thus almost half a second faster than Valtteri Bottas on P2. Lewis Hamilton was slower than his teammate, but the gap is very small. Home favourite Sergio Perez falls just outside the top three in fourth place.

Ferrari are also well placed again with fifth and seventh places. The team is still battling with McLaren for P3 in the Constructors' Championship. Unfortunately, Daniel Ricciardo had to retire midway through the session due to gearbox problems. Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda also did good business for their team, as both men finished in the top ten during the second practice session.

Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso completed the top ten in Mexico on Friday evening.
