Max Verstappen has had a lot of bad luck in a season that saw him reign supreme for a while. The Red Bull Racing driver has had a relatively trouble-free season, but has two DNFs and a ninth place finish to his name.

"Let's look at Max and how well he's driving this year. Look at what happened in Baku: that was absolutely twenty-five or even twenty-six points that he had in the bag, and they were just gone through no fault of his own," Peter Windsor says in a video on his YouTube channel.

Verstappen suffers from consequences of Pirelli blowout

The Formula One journalist does not believe that Pirelli's new, stiffer rear tyres are unrelated to Verstappen and Lance Stroll's blowout in Baku. "There's some irony in it: Red Bull is having trouble with the new rear tyres, while they might be the result of the blowout at the rear of Max's car," he continued.

The analyst also has a few things to say about what has transpired since Verstappen's crash at Silverstone, and how the team has handled it. "It's easy for me to say in hindsight, and of course I'm not managing Max Verstappen, but if I was I wouldn't have let Red Bull appeal that decision. I would have done the opposite to keep everyone calm, only to go for the jugular in Hungary. I think Red Bull gave away a little too much there about what they're thinking," Windsor concludes.
