Debut Grand Prix of Miami scheduled for first half of May 2022

In 2022, Formula 1 will travel to America twice. Besides the race at Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Miami will also be added to the calendar. Earlier this year F1 already showed the first images of the circuit.

CEO Stefano Domenicali now says the Miami Grand Prix will be held in the first half of May in 2022. The 10-year deal with the Miami GP was announced in April.

The first round in Miami was supposed to take place in the second quarter of 2022, but Domenicali has now set a specific date. “We are less than halfway through 2021, but planning for 2022 has been ongoing for some time," Domenicali said during an investor call according to Motorsportweek.com.

“We hope to announce the provisional calendar in September/October. We can confirm that the much-anticipated Miami Grand Prix will happen in the first half of May, and demand for tickets is high, even though sales have not officially started," Domenicali continued.

The initial expectation was to tie Miami and Canada together, but the Montreal GP has previously always taken place in mid-June. The 2022 Formula One season is expected to start in Bahrain in mid-March. The Monaco Grand Prix is already set for May 29.
