McLaren team principal Zak Brown 's comments about an inevitable crash between title rivals Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton caused quite a stir and has become a hot topic during the press conferences in Monaco.

Nothing to prove

Earlier in the day Hamilton was asked about Brown's statements. The seven-time world champion said he was not ruling that out and that he had so far managed to avoid an incident. "We have respect for each other, but Max still has a lot to prove. I have maybe a little less," Hamilton said at the press conference with which he seemed to put the blame for a possible crash mainly on Verstappen.

Moments later, the same questions were put to Verstappen, who revealed he had little understanding of the questions about an 'inevitable crash' with Hamilton. "I have nothing to prove. Avoiding contact is something that comes from both sides," the Dutchman bit off. "So far it has gone well. I don't know what else to say either, we haven't crashed yet, have we? Apparently such statements create headlines," quote Motorsport-Total.com.

Good for the spectators

Verstappen knows that it is good for the spectators if there is a crash, but that this is certainly not the aim. The Dutchman gets support from Sebastian Vettel with whom he sits at the press conference. "I understand that it is very exciting for others when drivers crash, but they do a great job".
