After three races, is Perez a bit wiser about the RB16B?

Despite leading the Portuguese Grand Prix for some time Sergio Perez was unable to secure a podium. Although he was dissatisfied with the result, it was much better than the result he achieved in Imola.

Positive weekend

Perez is clearly demanding more from himself, however, although he also learned a lot of new things about the RB16 in Portimao: "The result is not where I should be finishing, but it was positive to drive those kilometres on my own and feel the car because the way I have to drive this car in a long run and maintain the tyres is very different to what I am used to," he told Motorsportweek.com.
So all in all, not a lost day for 'Checo', who is looking forward to the future: "In that respect, it was a positive race. Hopefully, in Barcelona we'll be back in top form and can really compete with the front runners, that's where we need to be. Hopefully, we can get back to that level, but it's important every weekend to make progress."

Adjustment

Perez indicated at the start of the season that he needed at least 5 races to understand the car. Four of those have passed after Barcelona. "I don't know the car completely yet, so I can't give too much information about things we should try yet. I'm in that process of adapting, understanding the car, before I can really take the team in different directions."
