Sebastian Vettel is having a hard time with his new employer Aston Martin. With a thirteenth place in Portugal as his best result, he hasn't managed to score a single point yet. He hopes for a better weekend in Spain.

Encouraging qualifying

In Portugal on Saturday, things finally seemed to be going in the right direction for the four-time world champion. Vettel reached Q3 for the first time since last year's British Grand Prix and qualified ahead of his teammate Lance Stroll for the first time this season. In the race, however, things didn't go as well and the German didn't get further than thirteenth place, just ahead of Stroll.

"There are a few updates coming up for next weekend," Vettel looks on Autosport.com on the Spanish Grand Prix. "And hopefully we can be a bit more competitive. It clearly looked like we didn't have the pace of the AlphaTauris and especially the Alpines. So yes, we have to look a bit more, but in the end, we were not fast enough."

Stroll more at ease

The updates that Vettel received in Spain were already on Stroll's car in Portugal. According to Vettel, it was the right decision to give the new parts to Stroll in the first place. "He's obviously much more comfortable with the car than I am. We are still learning about the car."

When asked if the updates did their job well, Vettel replied as follows: "I think so, of course, I haven't felt them myself yet. I don't know. But I hope it will be a better weekend, it will be a bit easier and we will have a better pace. Especially Sunday afternoon."
