With the 2025 F1 world champion being decided this weekend, many drivers on the grid have given their take, on who the champion will be. Max Verstappen
With Verstappen having a 12-point deficit to
Lando Norris in the championship, the Dutchman needs to win the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, and have Norris finish outside of the podium positions, in order to win the championship. Many drivers mentioned the possibility of Verstappen winning the title when asked about the season finale, but they explained he is in a difficult situation.
Gabriel Bortoleto stated:
"I think he proved that he was the best driver in the world this year, so I think he deserves the title."Meanwhile, Racing Bulls driver, Liam Lawson, said:
"I think it would be very cool. I know it's been a big sort of fight back for the team in the last six months, and I was there at the start of the year when it was quite tricky."Two-time champion, Fernando Alonso, stated: "I think we all know that Max is an incredible driver, and extracting the maximum from the car. Some of the races he has won this year, maybe it was not really up to the car, it was up to him."
Finally, Nico Hulkenberg said: "We know crazy things can happen. I think he obviously knows how to fight for a title and I think pressure is not an issue for him. He's got nothing to lose really. He's got all to play for, all to gain."
Lando Norris
Lando Norris comes into the championship finale with the advantage in the standings. The Brit holds a 12-point lead over Verstappen, and a 16-point lead over team-mate,
Oscar Piastri.
Former Norris team-mate,
Carlos Sainz stated:
"Everyone knows how well I get on with Lando. And obviously I wish Lando the best possible outcome in that sense. I also have a lot of respect for Max and Oscar and I wish them the best. But I think Abu Dhabi is a Lando track."Meanwhile, Haas' Esteban Ocon revealed: "That's a good question. The one who deserves it the most is the one who has the quickest car, so I would say McLaren. So I think still Lando is going to take it."
Charles Leclerc: "I probably think it's going to be Lando. Twelve points is still significant. So, if nothing big happens to Lando, I think Lando will take it."
Finally, Isack Hadjar and George Russell both agreed: "Lando."
The championship will be decided in Abu Dhabi on Sunday, with Norris attempting to become a world champion, Verstappen looking for a fifth consecutive title and Piastri also looking for a maiden championship.
