Steiner sees great potential in Ferrari engine

The Haas F1 Team is not too worried about the upcoming Formula One season. Despite the fact that the development of the car has been halted, there is enough profit to have a lot of potential. Team boss Guenther Steiner sees that potential too and not just in his new drivers.

The 2021 car will have a new Ferrari engine on board, which has a lot of potential. Steiner is incredibly impressed with the possibilities the engine brings and believes there is a lot of potential in the engine. The team boss is optimistic about the upcoming season he tells Formula1.com.

"(Ferrari) has made a big step. I haven't seen any data yet - we'll have to find that out in Bahrain - but there seems to be a big step forward this year that hopefully we can turn into results."

New engine offers opportunities for VF-21

Although the VF-21 will not be further developed during the coming season, the entire Haas team is very positive. That goes for the newcomers Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin, but also for the people in the paddock. The power of the new Ferrari engine is largely responsible for this good mood, because this, together with a good integration of the drivers, will ensure that the racing team will soon be able to achieve results. Yet there is still work to be done.

"So far everything has been positive, which is good to hear, but there is still a lot of work to be done. The team likes the two young men, they have adapted quickly and are very enthusiastic. Conversely, the men like the team as well. They see that we have a family environment because we are a small team. Negative aspects have not come up, but one of my tasks is to make sure that all the positive things prevail over the next few years that they are with us."

Haas has not made many changes to its car for the coming season and in doing so is dealing with two new drivers who are fairly inexperienced in the Formula One world. As a result, the chances for the team this season are not very high. Who knows, maybe Haas will surprise us and produce something special. In any case, it will not be a question of optimism.
