Stroll laughs at analyst Villeneuve: Then it must be true

Lance Stroll, who owes his place in Formula 1 largely to his father's money, was criticised for this during his first seasons in Formula 1. Last season, however, he performed very well and even held pole position. Reason for compliments from even his biggest critic.

That is his compatriot and former world champion Jacques Villeneuve, who has been critical of his performance from the start and called him a "weakling" last season when he missed the Eifel Grand Prix because of stomach flu.

Villeneuve changes his mind

However, Villeneuve also admitted Stroll's performance during the rainy weekend in Turkey was excellent. He even called his performance 'exceptional'. "Did Jacques really say I did great?" he asked in an interview with the French Auto Hebdo.

"If Jacques says it, then it must be true," he cynically replies. Stroll, however, says it with a smile on his face. "I believe there is always only one way to respond to criticism and that is by being successful on the track."
