Mick Schumacher will make his F1 debut next year at the American company Haas. The new Formula 2 champion together with Nikita Mazepin will replace Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen, making Haas go for a full rookie-lineup next year. With Schumacher they will bring a big name to the team, which has been brought there by the Ferrari Driver Academy.

Mattia Binotto, Ferrari's team boss, is pleased that Schumacher has found his place. "I expect him to be able to prove how fast he is in Formula 1, in qualifying and in the race. To show that he is tremendously strong in the race and can drive constant lap times," Binotto explains to The National News.

Two years to get started

Binotto does expect the rookie to run into several problems. "It will be very difficult for him at the start. If you look at his previous experience in Formula 2 and Formula 3, he often only delivers from the second season and not the first". Binotto, therefore, has patience with Schumacher and hopes for the future.

"I think Mick, seeing how he is developing himself, learns a lot in the first season and then becomes very strong in the second half of the second season. That's why I think two seasons are so important for him. I expect improvements from the second season on compared to the first", Binotto concludes.
