The Grand Prix at Imola last weekend was a return to the track after fourteen years of absence. It can also be called a successful return, because it was a beautiful race. The organization also likes it and in the region is now looking for a possibility to make the circuit a permanent fixture on the calendar.

Nice reactions to the Grand Prix

The president of the Emilia-Romagna region, Stefano Bonaccini, is very satisfied with the reactions after the Grand Prix. He says to Motorsport.com: "The words of the insiders and drivers, those of an absolute champion like Hamilton... it's all about the beauty of the place and especially the track.

"The millions of viewers in Italy and around the world were given a showcase like no other in our country, the cradle of speed. It was perfectly organized and took place in maximum safety," says Bonaccini. He goes on to say: "No doubt Imola won his personal Grand Prix, thanks in part to the charm and history of a race considered one of the classics of the sport."

Return more often

This good weekend set the tone, also because everything went flawlessly according to Bonaccini. The circuit and all other local stakeholders are therefore keen to see Formula 1 return in the future. "We wanted the return of Formula 1 to Imola after 14 years, together with the municipality, local institutions and the top management of Formula Imola, the company that manages the circuit.

"Yesterday, as expected, I would have liked to have been there to reward the winners and thank everyone who made this happen. But it is with the same teamwork that we will work immediately to confirm the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix for next year and a stable inclusion in the calendar of the World Championship: the region is ready to do its part, as it does for the sport, from the base to the major events."
