Because of the new 'Concorde Agreement' that will enter into force in 2021, F1 teams had to think seriously about their future within F1. All teams have decided to stay and Ola Kallenius, the CEO of Mercedes, explains why he didn't think about quitting.

Not a difficult choice for Mercedes

With the upcoming changes to the regulations, it was especially important for the top teams to reconsider their participation in F1.

Adding the financial troubles caused by the coronavirus makes for a difficult choice. Mercedes CEO Kallenius says that he had no doubts bout staying, in conversation with Manager Magazin: "We reconsidered our activities in F1 at the beginning of this year. The price for television rights will be significantly higher."

Mercedes is would be out of their mind

Kallenius continues his argument: "Interest in F1 is growing in Asia, Europe and South America, practically everywhere. The number of younger fans is also increasing tremendously. This is mainly due to social media and social Sports."

"Should we throw that away? We would be out of our minds," concludes the CEO.
