The pressure will have disappeared somewhat from Alexander Albon's shoulders after last Sunday. After a stage the young Thai can breathe a sigh of relief and Helmut Marko is satisfied as well. As long as Albon keeps stepping, he has the seat at Red Bull Racing.

Halfway through 2019 Albon was allowed to make the switch from Toro Rosso to Red Bull Racing. The Thai had to replace Pierre Gasly, who besides Verstappen couldn't live up to the high expectations. Albon achieved good results in 2019, but was far away from Verstappen. Things had to change in 2020.

Marko supports Albon

In 2020, however, this has not been the case to date. On average Albon admits more than six tenths in qualifying and in the race the Thai did not finish ahead of Verstappen, unless the Dutchman dropped out. In spite of everything, Marko is still very happy with his pupil, who according to him continues to make continuous progress.

''We know that Albon is fast when things go normally for a weekend. I hope it is finally clear to you that Albon is our rider, as long as he continues to improve himself and meet our expectations. He is our driver. Other drivers have also spoken to us, but Albon is our man at the moment and we don't discuss anything with other drivers'', concludes Red Bull's top man opposite the Spanish Movistar.
