After seven races Lewis Hamilton is heading for his seventh world championship. Apparently with two fingers in his nose. Wrongly, according to Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff. "It's not always as easy as one might think. He therefore pleads for the internal team radio to be made public in order to convey this more clearly to the fans.

Wolff wants to involve the fans in a team's internal communication, for example about reliability concerns during a race. "It would be good to involve the public by allowing the transmission of internal discussions in which the driver is not involved", he says to Motorsport.com. One of the reasons is that the Belgian Grand Prix is not very exciting. "I understand what the fans are saying. There are races that are not very entertaining and then there are others that are the opposite".

No matter how easy the Mercedes seems to go, there is doubt during the race. "We really don't believe we're just going to win the championship and of course there's a lot more drama behind the scenes," said Wolff, who thinks that making the team radio available can contribute to understanding among the fans. "They can then really follow the action and see what's going on on the intercoms. And if each team were to open up communication, I think that would be an additional way to improve the entertainment factor of Formula 1".
