"Michael has never had such a superior environment as Lewis has at Mercedes"

Lewis Hamilton can simply achieve his seventh world title this season, which will put him on a par with record champion Michael Schumacher. However, according to Norbert Haug, former vice president of Mercedes motorsport, Hamilton's performance is not comparable to Schumacher's performance in his Ferrari time.

"Michael has never been in such a superior environment and racing car as Lewis has at Mercedes", Haug said in an interview with F1-Insider.com. "That should not in any way detract from the great performance of this man and exceptional driver."

"What Lewis has been doing in Formula 1 for fourteen years in terms of consistency and ability is simply unique and there has never been before", Haug praises. The Brit thinks Hamilton's performance will never be repeated.

The performance of Hamilton and Schumacher cannot be compared for this reason, Haug believes. Nevertheless, both drivers have shaped the royal class of motorsport in their own unique way.
