Charles Leclerc wins another virtual race

On Saturday evening, Formula 1 drivers, streamers and other athletes competed against each other in virtual races. In the end it was Charles Leclerc who pulled out all the stops.

With the 'Not the ... GP' Veloce eSports tries to entertain the public now that the entire racing world has been paused. This has been done with replacement digital Grand Prixs, but on Saturday evening the organisation took a slightly different tack. Instead of a regular race, one-on-one were fought out between the participants.

Sixteen participants participated in the tournament. Not only Formula 1 drivers like Charles Leclerc, Lando Norris and Alexander Albon, but also streamers like Aarava and top athletes from other branches. After four exciting rounds, it was Charles Leclerc who took the win.

Against Latifi in the final

In the first round the Monegask had to take on Aarava, a fight he won 2-0 fairly easily. Also Enzo Fittipaldi in the following round was no problem. In the semi finals Leclerc was alone against Norris, with an exciting fight ahead. The Brit however crashed on the Austin circuit, allowing Leclerc to advance to the finals.

There the driver of Ferrari met the novice of Williams: Nicholas Latifi. The two will probably not fight each other very often in Formula 1, so it's the chance for Latifi to prove it. The rookie held up well, with a tie after two laps, so it all comes down to the very last lap. The Monegask eventually was able to write it to his name, after which he can celebrate it with donuts on the digital asphalt.
