Sainz to Ferrari? "I'd rather not comment on that"
- GPblog.com
The fact that the F1 season has come to a standstill does not mean that the rumours surrounding driver transfers have come to a standstill. The name of Carlos Sainz has been increasingly linked to Ferrari lately, now that Sebastian Vettel has an expiring contract. The Spaniard himself says he is not yet engaged in contract negotiations, and he is now focusing on his own team, McLaren.
"It's fun when people in F1 recognize and appreciate the things you do," Sainz tells FormulaPassion.it. "There are still a lot of drivers under contract at the moment who won't have a contract next year. So there will be a lot of rumors in the coming months. Personally I am very much up to date with McLaren. I knew I had to lead the team and do my best to develop a good car".
Everything is at a standstill at the moment
Sainz is riding this season for the second year with Lando Norris at his side. The young Spanish driver has also found his way to sim racing. Next Sunday both drivers will be back in the virtual Grand Prix of China. Sainz will make his debut there.
The contract negotiations that have been, according to Sainz have only been with McLaren about an extension. "I already said at the beginning of the year that there have been some talks about the renewal, but at the moment everything is at a standstill. As for the rumor of driving at Ferrari, I prefer not to react. I am only focused on McLaren."
