Aston Martin Red Bull Racing star Max Verstappen has spoken out following the postponement of his home Grand Prix at Zandvoort, praising the work that has been done around the circuit to allow the event to be put on the F1 calendar in the first place.

There has been no Dutch Grand Prix since 1985, when Niki Lauda took the checkered flag in what was the Austrian's final win in the sport.

After months of renovation, resurfacing and bringing the track's facilities to the 21st century, Zandvoort finally looked set to welcome the F1 circus once again, with Verstappen himself already doing laps around the track in an old RB8.

Now, with the coronavirus pandemic causing the event to be postponed until later in the year, the Dutchman took to social media to send a message to his home country's fans and the people who had worked to get Zandvoort ready for racing.
