Leclerc believes new approach will allow for more flexibility

2019 saw Ferrari win just three races and at times they were seriously off the standard set by Mercedes. However, Charles Leclerc is hopeful that the new approach their 2020 challenger has taken will allow them to be more competitive at a variety of races.

Leclerc won two races, the Belgian and Italian Grands Prix, both circuits that favoured the powerful Ferrari car. Sebastian Vettel claimed one victory in Singapore.

Ferrari were unable to compete with the all-round superior Mercedes who eventually finished first and second in the Drivers' Championship but the Monegasque is hopeful that their change in approach will see them compete at more races that don't necessarily favour their package.

"It's always a good thing for both drivers," he said as quoted by Motorsport-Total.

"We can adapt the car more to our driving style. We didn't push the car to the limit yesterday, but we know we have more flexibility. It's a fact. And that can only be positive.

"The main reason for this was that we were very strong in some races last year and had bigger problems in others.

"And in order to be able to adapt the car to different routes, we have to be more flexible with the setup."
