Franz Tost predicts a "top five" finish for Alpha Tauri next season

Franz Tost is looking forward to the start of the 2020 Formula 1 season and believes that his team Alpha Tauri, racing under a new name, could match the pace of Renault and some of the other midfield teams. The team boss believes that the rebranded team will finish in the top five. 

"We never had such experienced drivers and it depends now how competitive the car will be," Tost told RACER.

"I hope that we will do a step forward there as well and then the target is quite clear: We have to improve our performance and we have to finish in the top five in the constructors’ championship.

"I hope (Renault is in reach). It depends now who is building a better car. Who is making more progress with the new car and who is developing it in a better way during the season. I hope it will be Alpha Tauri."

Will Alpha Tauri be in the top five in 2020? 

It will be a challenge for the Red Bull Racing junior team to break into the top half of the grid. However, they did record their best ever season in 2019 and will have momentum on their side heading into March. 

They have a strong driver line-up of Pierre Gasly and Daniil Kvyat, two drivers desperate to prove that they were wrongly dropped by the top team. 

The midfield battle will be as tight as ever and Alpha Tauri will play a key part in it.
